A church with a heart for the community

Report from Sunday Club and Little Stars

Sunday Club Leadership Team

We had a busy time at Sunday Club, kick starting the new session with a super family BBQ in the brilliant sunshine on August 25th.

With soft play and bubbles for the wee ones and inflatable games and football on the Glebe for the older children—as well as tasty burgers and hotdogs served up by our team of volunteer cooks.  There was something for everyone!

There was even a surprise birthday cake and, to the delight of the children, lots of cakes and treats!

To end the day we had a very competitive “Throw the Welly” event, followed by all-age rounders (where the adults joined in too)!

Since September we have been delighted with the response to the all-age Sunday Club and are especially pleased to see how much Little Stars are engaging with the older children and joining in with our singing and dancing.

Anyone who was at Café Church recently will vouch for our enthusiasm for singing and dancing!!

We have been helping the children to learn more about Gods love for each of us and how we can build the teachings of Jesus into our daily lives by taking one theme each week from our Sunday Club Motto—such as  “Speak with Kindness” and talking about what that means—learning through play, craft and prayer.

As we move towards November, the Leadership Team have been working to prepare a programme which will allow the children to learn more about The Christmas Story by taking one character each week and exploring who they were and why they came to the stable.

We’d like to think that when the children perform their Nativity play in December and celebrate Christmas with their families they will have a   deeper understanding of why the birth of Jesus has brought Joy to the World.

Ps don’t’ forget ZARA and AMELIA are hosting a wee stall down in Café Church on 16th December  to raise money for “Children with Cancer UK” Charity—please could you bake cakes to sell?

The girls are also looking for good condition toys, DVDs, books for the sale—just drop off any Sunday morning from now.
