A church with a heart for the community

Roundup from the Walking Group

September, October and November.

Irene Graham

We have, for the most part, been very fortunate with the weather for our walks, but this was all about to change in September when we actually had to cancel because of the storm like conditions which persisted throughout the morning, thus making it unsafe to attempt Gleniffer Braes which had been the plan.

However, come October and blessed with blue skies and pleasant temperatures, ten of us had a great afternoon in this particular part of Gleniffer. There are actually three distinct walks on the Braes - all of which we have done but, this one, is more of a leafy walk and the carpet of fallen beech leaves through the woods was a delightful Autumn scene.  The rumblings of the waterfall can be heard as we skirted the lake and headed up to higher ground which opened up and offered fabulous views over Paisley and to the hills beyond.

Returning to Mearns we adjourned to enjoy a coffee and chat about our next walk and plan for pre Christmas Lunch in December - yes it’s that time already!)

The walk for November will be local when the weather will dictate the final destination but, unless things are really bad, we shall always put our best foot forward and go for it!!

We meet in the Church carpark at 1.30pm on the 1st Wednesday of the month. New members are most welcome.
