Our newly refurbished hall was put to great use on Sunday 27th October at our Christian Aid Big Brekkie Café Church. It was packed and, from what I hear, comments were very positive, though I am not daft enough to think that everyone was completely happy about it! Anyway, it was great and I personally am delighted with what we now have.
A small team worked on the project on behalf of the church and I want to say thanks to those who were part of it at different stages along the way: Ramsay Withycombe, Graham McWiggan, John Henderson, Ann Campbell, Robert Paton and Marje Gillies. I especially want to thank Robert and Marje who put a monumental amount of time and energy, along with a considerable amount of emotional investment, into the refurbishment. Without these two good folk in particular, I’m not sure how things would have taken on.
Again I want to express all our thanks to the late Martin Sullivan who made the refurbishment possible and, in doing so, I wish to highlight the fact that we, as a Congregation, paid nothing towards it!
We are blessed indeed when so many other congregations work so hard doing all sorts of things to keep their church fabric as good as possible. Think about that!
So we now are ready to get up and running again. Lots to be doing afresh, but there will be new opportunities to develop our life and mission as time goes on. The real purpose of the refurbishment was to equip Mearns Kirk in its work for the Lord and I hope we all see that.
