Our Christmas gift service will be held on Sunday 8th December. Our chosen charity is “Woman and Children First “ based in Renfrewshire. This charity, which we have supported in the past, provide a range of support services to woman and children who have experienced rape, sexual assault, physical abuse, harassment and/or child sexual abuse, whether in the home or in the wider community. Last year alone they had 389 referrals which included 149 children and 67 families.
We are suggesting some items that can fill a Christmas Eve box for the children. The charity received some boxes during COVID and they were struck by how thoughtful they were, and how upon receiving the boxes the children felt so special. It really positively impacted their feelings of self worth.
Suggested items are as follows:
Boys / Girls age 1-17
Christmas pyjamas
Cosy socks
Fluffy blanket
Hot chocolate
Mug
Books
Bookmark
Cuddly toy (small)
Small game e.g. uno, top trumps, puzzle etc
Little magic trick
Hair clasps/bobbles
Torch
Small chocolates/sweets
The idea of a Christmas Eve box is gaining in popularity and it happens in many European countries. Children will traditionally open their presents on Christmas Eve, so it has become a “thing” here in the UK helping some over excited children to get ready for the big day, but also to calm them down as well.
Many thanks for your support as always.
